Hey heads up - I learned last Thanksgiving - even if you can usually get away with 5/10/15+ over the speed limit, you probably can't this weekend. Save that $125 dollary doos for some food! Roads are gonna be busy, speeding isn't worth the risk of hurting anyone. Just be late! It's what I do.

The Friends of Lansing's Historic Cemeteries is hosting it's 17 Annual Geranium Giveaway Saturday, May 18th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. or until the 100 free seed geraniums are gone.

This year the location has changed from Evergreen Cemetery to the Cemetery Courtesy Office located at 1709 East Mt. Hope Ave., directly across from Mount Hope Cemetery.

Families may have up to 4 free seed geraniums to plant on loved ones grave sites in the 3 city-owned cemeteries - Evergreen, Mt. Hope and North.

This service project is made possible by a donation from Memorial Minders and by FOLHC membership dues, donations and fundraisers. To help support this and other FOLHC activities, see their website at LansingCemFriends.org or their page at LansingCemeteries.

The Friends are a 501-c-3 non-profit formed in 2007 to "protect, promote and prosper" Lansing's three city-owned cemeteries. They also operate the volunteer staffed Cemetery Courtesy Office across from Mt. Hope Cemetery.

I was just voter number 70. I got to vote in person for myself at the fieldhouse of the high school I graduated from.

It's such a surreal feeling. I saw 4 people I know on the way in and out. Obviously I couldn't talk about the campaign in a polling location, but they wished me luck.

I've got goosebumps. Win or lose, I'm gonna ride this high for a long time. I love lansing so much and this campaign has been incredibly rewarding as a reminder that Lansing loves me, too. And I want everyone to feel this way. I want everyone to feel as supported and empowered by the community as I do.

Being an advocate and activist in Lansing - in the place I grew up - is the most rewarding thing I've felt this year.

I've had doors where people say "you went to second grade with my kid of course I voted for you"

"I worked in the union with your dad before you were born I voted for you"

"I remember you helping deliver food to my house during COVID I voted for you"

I'm feeling incredibly loved and supported by the community this weekend. I love being here with to of you. I'd be honored to help represent us in this charter process.

Happy Star wars Day everyone. It's a big part of my life and a tattoo on my body, because it's my favorite story of people winning against any system no matter how large or intimidating.
