Build Spotlight: Salvo Precision MWS

This is a near perfect clone of Tokyo Marui MWS system by Salvo Precision, a Chinese company.

Steve sent this in from North Carolina and wanted an accurate and tactile training platform for his real-steel AR. He had purchased a few barrel upgrades and wanted direction on the platform. After matching his barrel length for a tightbore I also advised it would push the platform over field limits so an adjustable NPAS valve restrictor was installed in the nozzle.
A new Maple Leaf bucking and Omega nub were also fitted and he purchased a Heavy Recoil Buffer by Angry Gun which dropped in.

After a clean and l**e, hitting a few screws with loctite and some tuning to the NPAS his build was finalized and chronoing consistently at 1.55J .3g. I range tested it and set the hop. The build is done, includes a 1yr warranty and is ready to rumble.

Build Spotlight: G&G SGR556

This is a new model AEG by G&G armament featuring proprietary everything. The gearbox is a split type with a traditional piston, spring, cylinder and cylinder head. The lower uses standard gears and bushings, and AR latch. the ETU and trigger contact/selector mounting area is proprietary. There’s also some shot detection or tracer system going on integrated into the front of the gearbox.
The platform features an ambi selector via some suspiciously thin parallel selector switches held captive against the gearbox, the entire assembly must be removed m14 style from the shell before it’s opened for service.
The hopup is adjusted via a screw on the front of the gas tube above the flash hider (?) this thing is so weird.

My customer wanted specifically a better response and so a brushless motor, 8mm solid bushings and 12:1 gears were installed. I elected to keep his G&G bevel gear because it meshed well. There are optical gear sensors but I decided not to short stroke in order to prevent potential issues and throw error codes in this proprietary ETU system.

The barrel and bucking were replaced with a Lambda 6.03 / 4UAD and his spring was swapped to an M120.

The only issue was some stiffness in the selector mech due to the new bushings, but it’s become very manageable after a few dozen articulations of the selector switch to break in the components. This platform is just so complex internally there’s no room for anything else. For what it is the build came together great and the response is sounding like some of the quickest i’ve seen from an AEG. I had to shim the spur gear with a single .1mm shim on the bottom to clear some manufacturing burs and still allow proper/loose fitment within the shell. This build was super tight and responds at HPA levels, easily within 40ms. It’s chronoing at 1.3J/385 fps.

Romo is happy, drove down all the way from the north side of Chicago to pick it up and he even was kind enough to grab lunch for us and chat for awhile afterwards.
