American democracy has existed and been built on the premise that the American people - both voters and othrwise - could rely upon and trust the government of the United States to honor its "promises" - both formal and informal relating to law enforcement, the rule of law, and even honoring business and other formal contracts into which the government entered.

As many all around the world are now finding out, in today's MAGA GOP world, every promise is a lie made with fingers crossed behind the back that government officials can deny, change on an arbitrary basis, disavow and knowingly misinterpret, or just "shrug their shoulders and walk away" while saying "this is now. that was then, or never before."

Doubt it? Ask about promises and contracts made to our erstwhile allies like NATO and around the globe. Ask about our treaties with individuals, groups including native Americans, or corporations even and non-profits and universities.

It is truly a shame that the return of America to the "me-onlyism" of the Ugly American in the form of an America whose reputation has morphed into Trumpism which is the "Ugly lying and corrupt American!"

In America, with the turn of the Trump-Roberts originalist "me and us" SCOTUS that favors their own pecuniary and power-thirsty agenda as demanded by their Epstein class friends, even concepts of equity and detrimental reliance and strict interpretation of contracts is seemingly well on their way out the door a legal principles embedded in the American system of Justice, fairness, and protection of the vulnerable.

While these efforts to advise persons in the United States are, in my opinion, consistent with the long-term accepted "rules of law and justice" in the United States, immigrants to the US - both "legal," undocumented or other wise may find deaf ears to their demands for equal protection of the law and due process rights set forth and adopted in the US Constitution.

I hope I am wrong in some of my fears and observations going into the dark, ominous, and uncertain future of my country...
