People often worry about the sugar in fruit, but food is more than a single nutrient.
An apple isn't a packet of sugar. It's a whole food that comes packaged with fiber, water, vitamins, minerals, and beneficial plant compounds.
As a registered dietitian, I'm often more concerned that people aren't eating enough fruits and vegetables than I am about the naturally occurring sugar in an apple.
Before we start crossing foods off the menu, let's make sure we're focusing on the bigger picture. Most of us would benefit more from eating more fruits and vegetables than from fearing them. 🍎
