The Michigan State Capitol will be closed for the holiday from July 3 through July 5 and will reopen for visitors on Monday, July 6.

Ever wondered how the Michigan State Capitol's iconic glass floor tiles are recreated? šļø
Take a behind-the-scenes look at the craftsmanship involved in the 2025-2026 Glass Floor Restoration Project.
Skilled artisans at Lucid Glass Studio in Providence, Rhode Island carefully create replica tiles before they are packed in custom wooden crates and transported to Lansing for installation.

The Michigan Legislature officially adopted the state flag on June 26, 1911.
The law directed that the flag āshall be blue, charged with the arms of the state.ā Michiganās Coat of Arms has been in use since the 1830s and remains one of the stateās most recognizable symbols.

The pedestrian walkway just west of the Capitol is Lansingās version of the National Mall. šļø
Flanked by departmental offices and anchored by the Hall of Justice completed in 2002, the walkway is named for Frank Kelley, who served as Michiganās Attorney General from 1961 to 1999.
