KLB’s MISSION

MISSION

To develop partnerships that engage, educate, and empower organizations and individuals to take greater responsibility for their environment by KEEPING LAREDO BEAUTIFUL. We established KLB in 2001 and became certified as a city affiliate of KEEP TEXAS BEAUTIFUL in 2002.

FOCUS

KLB is primarily a grassroots organization assisting the Laredo Community with active beautification, tree planting, cleanups, and storm drain mural projects.

VALUE

KLB offers hands-on community improvement projects that allow everyone to take personal responsibility for the cleanliness and sustainability of their community and their environment. KLB works in enhancing and preserving our city’s beauty.

MAJOR PROGRAMS and ACCOMPLISHMENTS since 2019:

BEAUTIFICATION/TREE PLANTING

DECEMBER 2019: Tree Planting at Bartlett Soccer Complex.

NOVEMBER 2019: TAMIU Make a Difference Day (31 El Cuatro-Juan Ramirez Park); The Return of the 100 Acre Woods (North Central Park).

MAY 2019: Tree Planting at Arturo N. Benavides Memorial Park (2607 Derby Avenue).

APRIL 2019: Tree Planting at Divine Mercy Park (9748 Diamond Drive).

MARCH 2019: Wyoming Street Tree Planting (by the Hillside Recreation Center).

CLEAN-UP/LITTER PICK-UP EVENTS

FEBRUARY 2020: Father McNaboe Park; Tree Planting & Clean-Up (1,500 pounds of mixed waste picked up).

SEPTEMBER 2019: Chacon Creek Beautification & Clean-Up (31,580 pounds of mixed waste picked up).

AUGUST 2019: Zacate Creek Bridge Clean-Up (13,820 pounds of mixed waste picked up).

STORM DRAIN MURAL PROJECTS

SEPTEMBER 2019 - CURRENT: Mural at North Central Park. Storm drain at North spillway.

FEBRUARY 2020: Zacate Creek storm drain mural (Lafayette and San Francisco Avenue).
