Proud is an understatement. These kids fought hard and represented their school, their districts, their town, and everyone behind the scenes. The best of the absolute best in Texas competed and they were right there. Congratulations to all Laredo athletes! You make all of Laredo proud! I do not know this gentleman’s name, nor his story (I’m gonna make it a point to sit and talk to him for a bit). But what I do know is that he’s been at every single game this season, and I’m pretty confident he’s done the same in previous ones. Be like this gentleman and support the ! Congratulations to all the teachers that got recognized today, we need every single one of you to influence our children’s minds.

I don’t know what it is about promotions that I love so much. To see my brothers earn their belts and evolve as jiu jitsu practitioners gives me a very specific kind of joy. Congratulations fellas, nothing is given on the mats 🤙🏽.

Here's what I've learned over these past few years of photographing action sports.

-Does equipment matter?
Yes and no. Ultimately, cameras and lenses are just tools. Tapping into your creativity, vision, and intention are the best tools in your arsenal. Certainly a f/2.8 lens will give you a crisper look, yet if an image tells a story, equipment becomes secondary. It's easy to get caught up with gear with all these great photographers shooting all kinds of crazy stuff. Learning with what you have and mastering it is far more important.....at first. Upgrade your skills before you upgrade your equipment.

Just grab your camera and just shoot! That's the hardest part in my humble opinion. 😊
