It is with a very heavy heart that I share the news that Scott Westgate, our Primary Safety Officer, passed away last night. I am still trying to get the details, and will share them with you as soon as I receive them. In the meanwhile, please keep Scott’s family in your thoughts.

Providing the best critical care in the worst of times
When disaster strikes, trauma often follows. NDMS Trauma and Critical Care Teams (TCCTs) provide critical, operative and emergency care to help people in the wake of disaster or emergency. TCCT members are medical professionals who are deployed to supplement federal, state, local, tribal and territorial resources at the request of local authorities. Whether they are deploying in the wake of a tornado or responding to a terrorist attack, TCCTs provide care that protects health and saves lives.

Deploying in Austere Conditions to Save Lives
TCCT members work together to provide excellent care in spite of challenging conditions. Disasters may knock out power or even destroy hospitals – but patients still need medical care. TCCTs rise to the challenge and work to get people the life-saving or life-sustaining care that they need.
TCCTs are typically deployed for fourteen days or longer. They stay until local medical resources have started to recover or are being supplemented by other organizations
