Nearly 5 years ago I was at a storytelling event in Northern VA and a woman shared her story on how she became an art therapist. I was inspired to pick up a paint brush, paint and canvas. Here’s what i learned:
🎨Get messy
🎨Enjoy the process
🎨Take time to let it be, come back and decide if you want to add
🎨 it’s ok to paint 🎨 over your original idea
🎨Do it for yourself!
🎨 use your fave colors , don’t worry about it matching something in your house.
🎨use the time for meditation on God’s word, breathe, notice the blank canvas, the colors, the way the paint brush strokes add texture and depth.
Creating is a process and it has helped me with problem solving. Are you ready to experience the healing of art? It’s time to Move past your pain, frustration, negative thoughts. You GOT this!!

35 He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers—all of them skilled workers and designers.

I have a heart for wives and women who desire marriage. I believe that women are the heartbeat of the home, and when she is built up spiritually, emotionally, and physically, by the word and strong community, transformation takes place.

My Story
In August 2018, My husband’s job moved us nearly 2000 miles away from where we lived in Northern Virginia. During the first few months of settling into our new home I found inspiration and creativity in the landscape around us. I gave myself freedom to clear my mind and reflect on how to recreate myself.
"God had lead me to a path (camino), near a mountain where the sun rises and reflects on the desert sand."
Prior to moving to Las Cruces, New Mexico, I heard a voice in my head say DIAMOND a few weeks before a speaking engagement for my teen mentor program called Made to Shine in 2015. I’m a visual learner and when I heard this word I immediately thought about how we are a diamond even in the dark. We hear about all the beautiful qualities of a diamond. But I knew the word DIAMOND meant so much more! I keep the radio dialed in to my favorite local Christian Music station and for weeks I heard song after song about Be the Light, Rise & Shine, Diamond. A few days later I was flipping through the bible and found Matthew 5:14-16. This scripture refers to us being the LIGHT, not to be hidden but to let your LIGHT SHINE before others...
I spent many years as a professional photographer focusing on exposing tween/teen girls and women the concept that beauty comes from a light within and we can help make it shine on the outside. I taught photography workshops called the “Chicks that Click” to show girls how to find the proper lighting to take amazing photos and how to see the light within themselves. We talked about perspective and how to see things differently. My full time business was photographing rising Seniors in High School and I developed a Model Mentor program for the girls and their moms. Girls are so hard on themselves and I wanted to show them how beautiful they really are. I scheduled a professional make up artist / hairstylist and did wardrobe consultation with all of my clients . (Mom’s loved this by the way…I took the fighting out of the wardrobe choices). I hosted free events for years with a dear friend and make up artist , Meredith Ehler, in her home and eventually got so big that we grew out of her basement and began hosting Made to Shine Events at a local church. I loved inspiring these young women and getting to know their moms.
