We at FastWave.Biz hope you have a memorable Memorial Day.
To first and foremost remember and honor our active duty service people who gave their lives for our country; to protect our way of life, our freedoms - us.
For us to remember the children and families left behind who have to learn to live every day - alone.
At the risk of being disrespectful - I remember those whose who came back physically, but whose emotional/spiritual/mental wounds were too great to overcome ( and a special prayer for those who are still fighting that all too real battle).
I and my family are going to have a great time on Memorial Day - we will deliberately have a great time in memory of all those who can't because they are no longer here.
I will do something extra - an extra bite, an extra scoop, an extra song (or extra loud) because there are just so many empty chairs at our picnics and back yards and dinner tables.
I hope & pray that all our armed forces come home safely - after keeping us safe. I hope & pray that our leaders spend our blood & treasure wisely to keep our sovereign nation safe & whole.
We attended a graduation party today; the young man graduating high school wants to attend Annapolis & become a navy fighter pilot. His was the best graduation speech I have ever heard. I hope & pray he accomplishes all his heart desires (graduating at 16 with a 4.3 is a great start) and as our country needs eternal vigilance; I sincerely hope we learn to wage peace.
May your Memorial Day be blessed and may God Almighty bless the families of our fallen. Amen.
Easter Weekend !!
Is it just about eggs and bunnies and chocolate? About spring and flowers and blooming plants and new life?
For me Easter comes with a few memories and lots of thought:
The day before I turned 8 years old my dog was hit & killed by a reckless car right in front of me - it was Good Friday, my birthday on Saturday, then Easter sunday. Her name was Olga and I had her for half my life. Death was very real for me that year - and every year since; and as much as I wanted my dog back I knew she wasn't God's son who died for all our sins - even the drunk driver who killed her.
I realize now that we all worship something or someone - some of us move around from one god to another; others stick with the same one or several ones. My folks introduced us kids to Jesus of the bible who lived a perfect life, died on the cross as a perfect sacrifice for all our sins so that we could be adopted into God's family for eternity. There is a lot of history to all these claims; Jesus as the Passover lamb, all the prophecies and people who came before, all the literally millions who were punished and/or martyred afterwards by those who denied Jesus was/is God.
It certainly is a touchy subject - much easier to eat chocolate and hide easter eggs for the kids, say how pretty their dresses look.
Looking at reality in the face; do any of us deny there is evil/wickedness in the world? Don't we all know there has to be more to this life than what the government/news/education says there is? Aren't there some people who have 'something extra' whether good or bad - that attract or repel us (kids seem to have a better sense of this than us adults)?
We started with Good Friday - remembering that Jesus was crucified for our sins - and was raised from the dead on Sunday - proof that he is the Son of God (I don't know of any other religious leader who paid my debt - then came back to life). Easter Sunday is the celebration - our gratitude that Jesus paid a debt he did not owe; for our debt that we could not pay; so that one day I can enter into God's presence as His child. Every one of us can ask Jesus to pay our debt - to not carry the guilt/burden/shame. Bonus is this is not just 'fire insurance' from hell, this is love/hope/peace - and just as critical these days - armor/protection/defense/offence against ALL the horrors that attack us and our families & loved ones every day.
Whether we are willing to admit it or not; each of us has been in a battle since birth. We are all born into evil (nobody had to teach us to be brats). Our creator God has given us free will to choose - every day - for good or for evil. Joining God's family (through Jesus) is the only way to really choose good because we are siding with the one who created all things - and has a wonderful plan for each of us to do our part to win back what the enemy has taken.
As we celebrate Easter we say "He is Risen - He has Risen indeed" !!
Happy St Patrick's Day to All !!
I might add that St Patrick is the patron saint of Engineers - something I am very proud of :-) I grew up hearing all about it from my dad who had two engineering degrees and I followed somewhat in his footsteps.
I stand on the shoulders of giants and appreciate all they gave me - most epecially all the praying they did on my behalf; it is fun to consider that St Patrick might have had something to do with it too. ;-)
