We recently received the incredible review below on Google. We are always glad to hear how our amazing team helps patients and their families and to celebrate the great work of our staff (like the incredible care provided by Sherri!), but this review is even more meaningful because it addresses a common challenge faced in Hospice. It is something we have seen many times. People who could benefit from Hospice are hesitant to receive these services for various reasons, often due to myths or misconceptions. Then, when they accept Hospice into their lives and receive the incredible care and support that comes with it, they are so appreciative to have it and wish they had started it sooner. Thank you to Rose for putting her and her husband's experience with Hospice into such a meaningful message:
"Hospice came into our lives in late October when my husband’s health declined. I cannot imagine taking that journey without the caring and capable hands of VNA Hospice. They were with us every step of the way and brought so much practical support as well as emotional comfort and spiritual aid to the most difficult period of our lives.
My husband was adamantly opposed to hospice in the beginning but by day 3 was wondering aloud why he had waited so long. Sherry Brown was his nurse for the entire time and he derived such comfort from her compassionate care and she truly became a friend as well as a caregiver. She offered options to him and always let him feel like he was in charge of his healthcare decisions. As more and more options exhausted themselves, that aspect of his care became more and more important. Hospice took care of all the billing and Rx needs as well as medical equipment that he needed as his world began to shrink. It gave me, as his wife, such a great gift of not having to worry about the logistical needs of his care.
Yes, I believe you can face end of life issues without hospice, but after what we experienced, why would you want to travel that road without their caring and loving support?"
