Just another day in the life.
It's spring, and that means April showers are in peak season. Those cloudy days make it a great time to up your flying game through some instrument training. An instrument rating makes you a safer pilot and vastly increases the number of days you can fly. Plus, there's nothing quite like seeing the runway magically appear out of the clouds.

Flight Training Tip: Want to get the best performance from your engine? Choosing whether to run rich-or-peak or lean-of-peak will help. So which is best? The answer is that it depends! With the modern, fuel injected engines found on all Cirrus piston models, you can use either depending whether you want more power or more fuel economy. Running rich-of-peak adds more fuel to the cylinders than needed for combustion. This excess fuel helps cool the engine. Running lean-of-peak introduces more air than needed, and this excess air cools the engine instead of excess fuel. Running rich-of-peak uses more fuel, but results in slightly higher engine performance than lean-of-peak. As always, you should refer to the POH of your specific airplane for proper leaning technique to avoid excessive engine wear or damage. Congratulations to Mike Nemeth on the purchase of his 2007 Cirrus SR22 G2! Normally an aerobatic pilot, Mike decided to step into the world of cross-country flying. With this capable plane he will save valuable time both in his business and flying to visit his three daughters! Mike partnered with instructor to complete the 3-day transition training course included with his pre-owned plane through the Cirrus Embark program.
