Shining Light Music

Today’s Teacher Spotlight: David Gardner is a highly experienced teacher who has played piano for 58 years, and has taught for 53 years. He is from Lee’s Summit, where he learned to play piano from his favorite teacher, Gladys Alkire. David says Gladys was a legendary piano teacher in the Lee’s Summit community for many years. In college he studied with Joanne Baker, who helped him develop and refine my skills. His best advices for students is “You learn to play when you are by yourself practicing. At your lessons, you receive guidance. You still teach yourself the skill during practice. It sometimes is hard, but don't give up.” David enjoys cruising to various destinations including the Caribbean, Alaska, Mediterranean, and he is looking forward to his trip to Norway this fall.

Teacher Spotlight: Deana Haines is Shining Light Music's owner and founding teacher. She has played the piano for 64 years and has taught piano for 50 years! She is from Grandview, Missouri. She loves traveling the Mediterranean, eating ice cream and sewing in her free time.
