1 - 20 ounce can crushed pineapple (do not drain)
1 - 8 ounce container Cool Whip
1 cup mini marshmallows
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts + 2 Tablespoons for garnish
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips…

Tonight I’m thinking about differences..
Difference’s in care specifically. Most of us think about what illness, medications, specialists.
But what I have found is that every precious resident I have ever had goes way beyond that.
What they need is time, personal attention, the dignity and respect of actually getting to know THEM, as a person, not a disease process or age related illness.
I am truly one of the most lucky people on the planet because I get to know residents as who they are.
We laugh together, we cry together, we live together (yes, I actually do live in my assisted living), I get to know my people so well, I can tell what they’re feeling before I even ask.
I “help” my dementia patient find the remote 40 times a day, yet she never knows she lost it, because I tell her, that “I’ve put it somewhere”. There’s no need to distress her by asking what she did with it. She feels better and smiles, that makes me happy!
I get the privilege of cooking and serving meals that our residents LOVE, and the smiles are amazing!
If the feeling of loving care satisfaction could be translated into a dollar amount, I would be the wealthiest person on the planet.
The satisfaction and love that I feel for what I do cannot be put into a dollar figure, it is priceless.
