When thunder roars, go indoors! β‘ Stay safe during severe weather by following these safety tips from LCVRS.
π‘ Stay Inside: Seek shelter in a sturdy building. Avoid porches, sheds, and open spaces.
πΏ Avoid Water: Do not shower, bathe, or use the sink. Plumbing conducts electricity!
π Unplug Electronics: Disconnect TVs, computers, and appliances. Corded phones should also be avoided.
π Never Drive Through Flooded Roads: Turn around, don't drown! Just a few inches of moving water can sweep your car away.
π Beware of Downed Wires: If you see a fallen power line, stay at least 35 feet away and call 911 immediately. Treat every wire as if it is live and dangerous.
Emergencies can strike quickly in Loudoun County! Have a battery-powered weather radio handy and make sure to monitor local alerts via Alert Loudoun for the latest watches and warnings.
