Why you should ALWAYS use lotion in a UV light tanning bed!

Whether you use lotion when tanning, or you don't, many people still do not know why it is so important to use. Tan Time is here to help you understand the importance of tanning lotions and why you should ALWAYS use them when tanning!

Tanning beds dry out your skin, but using lotion prevents that from happening and moisturizes your skin. It protects the moisture levels in your skin, allowing your pores to open up. With your skin getting so dry from not using lotion, it will slow down your tanning process. According to a 14-day study done by the American Tanning Institute, 100% of those using tanning lotions showed an overall improvement in tan-ability. Not only will lotion keep your skin moisturized, but it will also help provide an even tan. Applying lotion will help your tan last longer and won't fade immediately. Many tanning lotions provide nourishing nutrients that your skin can use to give a healthier appearance!

Like I mentioned above, not using lotion can cause an uneven tan. But there are other factors into getting that perfect tan! Shaving and exfoliating often is going to help that as well. It is going to help keep your skin moisturized and provide a smoother surface for you to apply your lotion on! Also, making sure you apply your lotion evenly will help create that even, perfect tan!

Do you ever get that "after-tan" odor? Tanning lotion is going to help that too! That scent is caused by the bacteria on your skin getting hot from the tanning bed. Most indoor tanning lotions have an anti-bacterial ingredient that will eliminate that odor. I used to not use lotion whenever I tanned. One day I decided to try it out and ever since then I have not tanned without it! I noticed right away a better smell, and it helped my tan extremely.
