(UPDATE June 8): Three adults and one child were displaced as a result of this incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Damages are estimated at $65,000. The Loudoun County Fire and Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office investigation concluded the cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time.

INCIDENT ALERT: Fire and rescue units are on the scene of a house fire in the 21000 block of Monmouth Terrace in Ashburn. Crews arrived to find a townhome with smoke visible from the rear and a fire on the rear deck. The fire is out. No reported civilian or firefighter injuries. Fire investigators are on scene.

(FINAL 2:45PM): The leak has been contained. The gas company will remain on scene completing repairs. Fire and rescue crews are working with the affected businesses to return and will then clear the area. The roadways are expected to reopen shortly after.

(UPDATE 2PM): We appreciate your patience as emergency crews remain on scene working to safely resolve this incident. Edwards Ferry Road is closed in both directions between the Leesburg Bypass and Heritage Way. Several businesses have been evacuated, and additional businesses in the area have been impacted. The Leesburg Bypass remains fully open in all directions. There have been no reported injuries at this time. Continue to take alternative travel routes and follow the direction of law enforcement on scene.

INCIDENT ALERT: Fire and rescue crews are on the scene of an outside gas leak in the area of Edwards Ferry Road NE and the Leesburg Bypass in Leesburg. The gas company is on scene and assessing the extent of the leak. Several businesses in the area are being evacuated as a precaution. Crews will be on scene for an extended period of time. Several roadways in the immediate area have been shut down. Avoid the area as traffic impacts are expected.
