Founded in 1430 by King Tashi Namgyal of Ladakh, the Namgyal Tsemo Monastery, more popularly known as the Tsemo Gompa, is located on a high feature, giving a beautiful glimpse of the the Leh city and flowing rivers. It houses a three storied Buddha statue, and also showcases an abundance of rich Buddhist manuscripts and decorated paintings.
