Cancer cells often find ways around drugs designed to stop them. Using X-ray crystallography and cryo-EM, researchers have uncovered key structural differences between two cancer-driving proteins, KRAS and MRAS, revealing a path toward a single drug that could block both and help prevent treatment resistance.
The study, conducted with support from the Advanced Photon Source, provides a blueprint for designing next-generation cancer therapies that target multiple RAS proteins at once, potentially improving outcomes for patients with KRAS-driven cancers.
