6 So when they had come together, they asked him, "Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?" 7 He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth." -- Acts 1:6-8

While Jesus refused to give the disciples divine foresight (it is not for you to know the times...the Father has fixed), he gave them divine strength instead (But you will receive power).

This is the pattern of the Christian life. We often lack both insight and foresight into the purposes of God but we will always have enough power to engage faithfully with whatever he sends our way.

If you want answers, He may not give them to you.
But if you want the ability to greet each new circumstance with faith, hope, and love -- that He has promised to give.

Will God give you...
Divinely empowered foresight? Usually no.
Divinely empowered faithfulness? Always yes.

The Spirit is ours in Christ.
