Rise Above Early Learning Center

Our Pre‑K learners spent the month exploring the beauty, culture, and diversity of Africa through a rich, hands‑on project that connected art, music, language, play, and imagination. Throughout the month, children discovered traditional African games like Mankala, learned the meaning behind Africa’s symbolic colors, and created tribal masks inspired by African patterns and storytelling. They built animal habitats, explored sand as an important natural resource, and danced joyfully to African music. We practiced the welcome word Akwaaba, matched wooden beads to numbers, and created beach provocations inspired by Africa’s coastlines. The children painted scenes from their learning, imagined what homes in Africa might look like, and filled our writing center with new vocabulary such as Africa, Akwaaba, Travel, Music, and Cuisine. This month-long project helped our young explorers see just how unique, vibrant, and special Africa truly is—and we’re excited to continue our adventures as we learn more about the world around us.

The dads in our community deserve a morning worth remembering, and we are planning just that. Our Rise Above Father's Day Lunch is this Thursday, June 18 from 11:30 to 12:30. We'll be outside with pizza, drinks, and brownies the children made in cooking class. Come hungry, and come ready to see your little one beam.
