The Lewestown Chapter collected 53 retired flags today for proper disposal. Great job members of the Lewestown Chapter. Special shout out to Chuck Smolka for getting this together.
On this Memorial Day, a day to honor and mourn those who have died while serving in the military, is a time for reflection and recognition of our own patriot ancestors who made the sacrifice in defense of our country. One such hero was Robert Kirkwood, one of Delaware's most distinguished Captains of the American Revolution. He was with the Delaware Continentals from the first battle in Long Island NY to its last battle in Eutaw Springs SC, participating in 32 battles. He died on the battlefield in Ohio during a failed expedition to quell an Indian uprising. Please take a moment to celebrate those who served our country by joining local community events with other SAR members. Attend listed events or find another to Share Our Story. Be proud of having a family member who served in the American Revolution.
