It's been awhile since the Safe Voices office dogs have said hello! From left to right, say hello to Monty (who belongs to our Legal Advocacy Program Manager, Tori); Carly (who belongs to our Anti-Trafficking Program Manager, Kara); and Kristaps (who doesn't belong to any of us, but was a very special office guest while our Director of Development, Grace, dog-sat him for a friend!).
Safe Voices shelters became the first pet-friendly domestic violence shelters in the state back in 2019, and we are happy to also be a pet-friendly work place!

What to expect when you call our 24-hour helpline:
- Helpline calls are confidential.
- Calls are answered by our answering service, who will ask your name, the best number to reach you, and if it is safe to leave a message at that number. They will then dispatch that call to one of our advocates.
- IMPORTANT: Our advocates will call back from a blocked number. This is for their safety and yours. They will introduce themselves by confirming they are speaking with the person who called and saying "Hi, this is [Name] from Safe Voices. Is now a good time to talk?"
- Every call is different and is shaped by the unique needs and desired outcomes of the caller.
- Anyone who is affected by domestic abuse, s*x trafficking, or s*xual exploitation and lives in or is connected to Androscoggin, Franklin, or Oxford Counties can use our helpline.
- The Safe Voices Helpline is here 24 hours a day, every day.
If you are experiencing domestic abuse, s*x trafficking, or s*xual exploitation, you can call us. If you are supporting a family member, friend, or colleague who is experiencing one of these situations, you can call us. If you aren't sure if what you're experiencing is domestic abuse, s*x trafficking, or exploitation, but you need to talk through your concerns, you can call us.

This is why prevention education is SO important! Safe Voices offers prevention education for youth to learn about healthy relationships, boundaries, and respect, with the hope that each student in those sessions will have more tools to stop abuse before it starts. But we're here when they do encounter abuse, too. In today's Mission Moment, a Safe Voices advocate shares how they and the Safe Voices educator came together with a teenager and her mom to pursue a Protection From Abuse order following some intense teen dating violence she had experienced. The advocate shared:
“This month, I supported a mother who was filing a Protection From Abuse order on behalf of her teenage daughter who had experienced severe teen dating violence. Over the course of two PFA hearings, I was able to facilitate an agreement for a 2-year final PFA order that included every stipulation the survivor and her mother needed to feel safer. The teenage survivor and I also met with the Safe Voices educator to provide education and resources on teen dating violence.”
