Our Story
Upper Trinity Conservation Trust (UTCT) was created in 2010 by Upper Trinity — the first land trust in Texas to be created by a water district with a primary focus on water quality protection. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, the UTCT encourages conservation, stewardship and enjoyment of riparian lands along and near waterways.
Chartered for land conservancy, the UTCT receives and oversees conservation easements and other assets in the Lewisville Lake Watershed by working with individual landowners, communities and developers to preserve these special natural areas.
In 2017, the UTCT, along with the Upper Trinity Regional Water District and Denton County, developed the Denton County Greenbelt Plan to encourage the preservation and protection of greenbelt areas along creeks, rivers and lakes in the County - - to benefit water quality and enhance quality of life for residents. By working together with a common vision, we can accomplish much more than by working alone. Learn more at www.DentonCountyGreenbeltPlan.com.
