Safe Kids Worldwide is proud to announce a new collaboration with the American Red Cross to expand the reach of the Red Cross Longfellow’s WHALE Tales Water Safety for Children education program. This collaboration brings together two nationally recognized organizations with a shared commitment to drowning prevention — particularly among the youngest and most vulnerable children.

“Nearly 3,000 children ages 0-19 years fatally drowned in the United States from 2021-2023, and drowning is the leading cause of death among 1–4-year-olds,” said Torine Creppy, president of Safe Kids Worldwide. “We know learning basic swimming and water safety skills can save lives and we’re excited to join the American Red Cross and introduce the joys of water recreation and water safety education to more families, schools, and communities across the country.”

Meet our Safe Kids Community Partner of the Month, Jackie Graves! Jackie has been a registered nurse for over 50 years and the Parish Nurse at Second Presbyterian for 25 years. Safe Kids has been a wonderful platform for her to teach health and safety promotion in our community.

Jackie has been with Safe Kids for 23 years!

Car seats distributed in February are given away in honor of Jackie. Many of which were given to students attending the parent education program at the Family Care Center. The Family Care Center holds a very special place in Jackie’s heart, as she served on their board for 15 years.

Join us as we say thank you to Jackie’s selfless contributions of her time and talents to Safe Kids!

New CARFAXinc data shows nearly 1 million vehicles on U.S. roads have open recalls for defective LATCH connectors, potentially putting millions of children at risk.

LATCH is the child seat anchoring system required in most vehicles since 2003. Defects such as faulty welds, misaligned anchors or problematic coatings can prevent car seats from being installed correctly or staying secure.

CARFAX findings show these recalls affect hundreds of thousands of vehicles across many makes and model years, making recall checks especially important for families.
