We have big news to share with our patients and referral sources!

Davidson Eye Associates, P.A., and Dr. James F. Slyman have joined Wake Eye Institute. Dr. Slyman and the entire staff at our practice are excited to now be a part of the Wake Eye Institute team and the Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Health organization. Simultaneously, we are also welcoming a new Optometrist, Dr. Grady Elliott, to our practice. Dr. Elliott has been in practice for 25 years and brings considerable experience in comprehensive ocular health to our patients.

As the founder of Davidson Eye Associates, Dr. Slyman will continue to actively see patients full-time in our Lexington office. This merger will allow us to better meet the growing needs of our patients and respond to the increasing demand for specialized eye care services in Davidson County and the surrounding areas.

We've come a long way since our practice first opened in a small, rented building on the town square in 1981. Thanks to you, our patients, over the past decades we've grown into a regional healthcare organization, redefining standards of eye care in this area. Our 10,000-square-foot, custom-designed office now has 10 fully equipped examination rooms, state-of-the-art diagnostic technology, and two onsite operating rooms.

But one thing has never changed - our commitment to providing the very best possible care for our patients, young and old. Thank you for your support of Davidson Eye Associates in the past. We look forward to seeing you in the next decade as we become part of Wake Eye Institute.

You may have heard somewhere that looking at a computer, smartphone or other digital screen for long periods of time will permanently damage your eyes. Thankfully, this is like the old adage about “ruining your eyes” from watching too much television or sitting too close to the TV: it’s simply not true. However, you probably notice some uncomfortable effects from staring at your screen too long. We are not likely to cut back on cell phone and computer use any time soon. So what can we do about the related eye strain? Here are some tips to relieve your eyes. https://www.aao.org/eye-health/tips-prevention/computer-usage
