Ocean Course Hokuala

On Sunday, June 28, Kauaʻi local Philip Isaksen recorded his first career hole-in-one on the signature, oceanfront 14th hole at the Ocean Course at Hōkūala, a par-3 widely regarded as one of the most spectacular holes in Hawaiʻi golf.

Isaksen admits the front nine had not been kind to him that day. “I was struggling and honestly almost felt like quitting,” he said. “But those ocean holes give you all the motivation you need to keep playing.”

Standing on the 14th tee, Isaksen struck a 7-iron that found the green and tracked straight at the cup, dancing around the hole before disappearing from view. He and his playing partners couldn’t be sure what happened until they walked up to the green and saw the ball resting in the bottom of the cup.

“This is truly a game where one shot will always keep you coming back,” Isaksen said. “You never know what’s going to happen out there.” He can’t wait to play again next week.
