4 Years of Service. What’s Next.

It has truly been an honor and privilege to serve as your Councilmember over these last four years. I cannot express enough gratitude for the love and support from all of you who continue to work alongside me to help our community.

These past four years have been some of the most difficult—and at the same time, most fulfilling—years of my life. While serving, I closed my private practices, became a husband, and then a dad. I also survived emergency surgery to remove a 3 cm tumor from my spine.

In four years, we shifted budget priorities to tackle the cost of living. We passed county legislation and supported state and federal initiatives that created lasting impact. We doubled down on housing, helping make the County one of the largest producers of affordable housing for local families. We invested in transportation, wastewater, water, and other core services to help ease the burden on our residents. We dedicated every extra bit of time and every available resource toward making Kauaʻi a more equitable place for our keiki, kūpuna, and underserved communities.

Yet despite that progress, I still have days filled with disappointment and despair. Many sleepless nights. Many moments of sadness. My family and ancestors taught me how to persevere through challenges, but I have never felt the weight of failure quite like I have while serving in public office.

The landfill crisis. The septic crisis. The housing crisis. The cost-of-living crisis.

These challenges weigh heavily on me every day, and I have deep respect for everyone working to address them. The next two years will be critical. We must continue working together to implement sound solutions and set our island on a path toward long-term success for generations to come.

I see a clear path forward—one where our community is healthy, safe, equitable, and united. The burden is heavy, but when I look back at our ancestors and those who came before us, I am reminded that we come from people who always found a way to make things better.

With your support, I would be honored to continue serving as your Councilmember and to double down on our efforts for our community. On behalf of my family, mahalo for your sacrifices, your trust, and your support. It means the world to us that we have the opportunity to do this work and call Kauaʻi home. 🤙🏽💚
