PTSD Awareness Month is a time to recognize the impact of trauma and the need for access to care and support. 🩵
About 6 percent of adults in the United States will experience PTSD in their lifetime. Veterans experience even higher rates estimated between 11 and 20 percent depending on service era. Many more live with trauma related symptoms that affect daily life.
PTSD is a disability. It can impact work, housing, education and independence. Access to treatment accommodations and community support is essential.
Disability Rights Nebraska works to protect the rights of people with mental health disabilities. This includes access to services fair treatment and freedom from discrimination.
