Governor Jim Pillen has issued an emergency declaration for the Corkscrew Road Fire in Sioux County.

The lightning-caused wildfire has burned nearly 30 acres and continues to threaten public safety and property. The declaration activates state resources and the Governor's Emergency Fund to support response efforts.

🚨The U.S. Small Business Administration is offering low-interest Economic Injury Disaster Loans to eligible small businesses and private nonprofit organizations affected by the drought that began May 12.

Eligible counties: Clay, Fillmore, Franklin, Harlan, Jefferson, Kearney, Nuckolls, Phelps, Saline, Seward, Thayer, Webster, and York (NE), plus Phillips and Smith (KS).

✔️Up to $2 million in funding
✔️Interest rates as low as 4% for businesses and 3.625% for nonprofits
✔️No payments or interest for the first 12 months

🗓️Apply by March 1, 2027: sba.gov/disaster

The Log Road Fire near Harrison remains estimated at approximately 1,526 acres and is now 68% contained.

Firefighters continue mop-up operations, reinforce containment lines, and patrol for remaining hotspots. Please continue to avoid the fire area while crews remain on scene.
