In the sweltering heat of summer, not all streets feel heat equally.

It often comes down to their tree canopy, with shaded streets experiencing cooler temperatures than surrounding areas by up to 10 degrees Fahrenheit.

But no matter why they’re planted, trees always do more.

It's why planting projects like this one in the Creekside Community of Greer, South Carolina, are so important.

This development is home to many new homeowners but lacked trees. Planting as a community here meant investing in a cooler place to live and play. And as residents literally put down roots, they also invested in a sense of home.

Nature really said, "let's paint". Meet the Rainbow Eucalyptus tree. 🎨

This whimsical wonder naturally peels away its old bark in patches. As the fresh wood underneath is exposed to the air, it ages into a stunning spectrum of vibrant colors.

Have you ever seen one of these in person? Drop a 🌈 if so!

Did you know you can see temperature?

Heat is rising, but so is our ability to plant trees with precision. That makes a big difference when you consider trees can cool surrounding areas by up to 10 degrees Fahrenheit.

Knowing exactly where trees can make the biggest difference in cooling a community starts with mapping. Tools like our Canopy Map let anyone explore the state of a neighborhood’s canopy and compare it to that area’s heat index.

The real magic happens when in-depth heat and canopy data are combined with the real-world insights of our local planting partners.
