ZO + M E L A S M A

While Melasma is one of the most difficult skin disorders to treat, treating it fulfills me in a way that is only rivaled by treating acne. They are the disorders that, when improved, actually transform a patient’s life. The shame that is able to be lifted through the transformation is something pretty magical.

There are a few factors to consider and remember when it comes to understanding and treating Melasma:
-there are no quick fixes
-you are genetically predisposed to this pigment disorder, and that cannot be changed
-continual success requires continual maintenance
-trigger avoidance is of utmost importance

Many patients don’t realize the important role that their overall health plays when it comes to long term pigment suppression. I believe one of the KEY factors to its development, especially in pregnancy, is the inability of the liver to properly metabolize and excrete excess hormones. Liver support is 🔑! I’m in the middle of writing my “Brain Dump for Pigment”, the third Brain Dump thus far (“Brain Dump for Acne” and “Brain Dump for Redness” were the first two!), and I can’t wait to share it with all of my Melasma patients.
