In the aquarium, Chocolate Tangs require a large marine system of at least 125 gallons with plenty of swimming space, strong water movement, and high-quality filtration. They are active grazers that spend much of the day picking at algae and biofilm on rocks. They are generally reef-safe and can coexist with corals, though they may become territorial toward other tangs, especially similarly shaped species. A secure, stable environment with excellent water quality is important for long-term success.
