Yesterday, I had the awesome opportunity to attend a small group presentation by Superintendent Dr. Susannah O’Bara at Reeves Elementary where she discussed everything from future growth plans (High School #6 and #7) to the current theories on school design and children safety. Reeves is a state of the art campus with an amazing open floor plan, lots of glass and light coming from interior hallways. She discussed exactly why even with all of that glass Denton Classrooms are some of the safest in the nation. Additionally she spoke about new practices like Denton Digital where children and families can choose to attend classes digitally from home, yet they can still attend on campus extra curricular like band and football. She also discussed alternative formats coming in the future like K-8 buildings. It was incredible to hear from the leader of my children’s educational system. I’m proud to call Little Elm home and have Denton ISD be the system my children are in.
