Help us Celebrate Emily Wright in April!

Emily Wright, MNSc, APRN, AGPCNP-C is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the Department of Urology. She started her career at UAMS as an RN in 2014 and transitioned to her role in the Department of Urology as an APRN in 2020.

Emily has experience in both Urology Specialties and Urology Oncology. She currently practices full time in Urology Specialties Clinic. Her primary specialties include BPH, kidney stones, and elevated PSA evaluation, although she provides comprehensive care across a broad range of urologic conditions, including women's urology.

She values collaboration with her fellow APPs, residents, and physicians to enhance patient access and deliver high-quality care. Emily is also actively involved in mentoring and training new APP team members, contributing to continued growth and excellence of the department.

Help us celebrate Shannon Hoey!

Shannon received her Associate of Science in Nursing from UALR in 1992, BSN from UAMS in 1997 and MSN from UAMS in 2015. She has worked at UAMS for 6 years. Prior to UAMS, she worked in cardiovascular surgery for 22 years then transitioned to transplant in 2019. She briefly worked with CV surgery team at UAMS for 2 years 2020-2022 then return to transplant. She and her husband love to travel! Shannon said, “If I was not a nurse practitioner, I would love to be a barista but am probably too old for that now!!”

We are celebrating our Advanced Practice Provider (APP) of the month Hillary Mayberry PA-C

Hillary has been part of the UAMS community since 2013, when she began working in the Pharmacology and Toxicology Department conducting research focused on stroke and hypertension. She later attended the UAMS Physician Assistant Program, graduating in 2018. Following graduation, Hillary accepted a position at UAMS in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, where she practiced clinically until late 2025. In 2021, she received an academic appointment as Assistant Professor and currently serves as the Director of Clinical Education for the UAMS Physician Assistant Program, overseeing the clinical training and professional development of PA students.

Hillary is deeply committed to advanced practice provider leadership and mentorship at UAMS. She currently serves as Immediate Past Chair of the UAMS Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Council, having served as Chair in 2025. She also serves as Chair of the Mentorship and Transition to Practice Subcommittee, where she helped initiate and launch a formal mentorship program for new APPs in 2024 to support onboarding, professional growth, and retention of APPs across the institution. In addition to her work at UAMS, Hillary serves on the Arkansas Academy of Physician Assistants (ARAPA) Board of Directors as Vice President, is Co-Chair of the Communications and Outreach Committee, and is an active member of the CME Conference Planning Committee, supporting statewide PA advocacy, education, and professional engagement. Through her leadership, dedication to education, and long-standing service to UAMS and the PA profession, Hillary continues to advocate for excellence, collaboration, and professional development among advanced practice providers.

Last Thursday, Joni Yarnell, CNM was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the March of Dimes Awards Ceremony—a recognition of her decades of service, dedication to families, and commitment to advancing nurse-midwifery.
