In August 2013, I injured myself doing a back squat.
The workout was a 10-minute EMOM (one squat every minute on the minute) with a weight of 275 pounds. On the eighth round, I felt a pop in my right hip at the bottom of the squat. I immediately dropped the weight and went to the ground. I sat there for a minute before trying to get up, feeling a numbness down my leg into my big toe. While I didn’t experience pain, something was wrong. The next week at the beach with friends, I limped around, trying my best to recover.
Eventually, I regained feeling in my leg and big toe and continued training over the next years, setting personal records in squat, deadlift, and sn**ch.
Conventional wisdom urged me to go to the doctor or even the emergency room, knowing it might lead to medication or surgery. But I believed that surgery should be the last option, not the first. I had trust in my abilities and sought alternatives for getting out of pain, and it paid off.

Did you know that lower back pain is not only a physical burden but also a financial one?
In the United States, we spend billions of dollars each year to alleviate this discomfort. Apart from the monetary cost, the toll on quality family time and work productivity is immeasurable. Time is precious, and lower back pain robs us of it.
Strengthening your legs is not just about looking good, it's also a vital strategy for alleviating lower back pain. By building up your leg muscles, you provide essential support to your spine, which reduces strain and discomfort.
We use a "strength balance test" to determine if there is an imbalance between your right and left legs. Based on the results, we select the correct exercises for you to ensure that you are training properly and will be less likely to experience back pain in the future.

Do you have a bulged disc in your back?
Do you get painful shooting symptoms down the back of one or both of your legs?
Is it painful for you to sit or stand for very long?
Do you have to steel yourself every time you bend down to pick something up from the floor?
Disc injuries suck; there’s no getting around it, but having a disc injury doesn’t mean you have to choose between a life sentence of pain and invasive surgery.
In fact, when you compare the outcomes of conservative management vs. surgery, there’s no difference after one year.
What does that mean?
If you have a bulged disc, you’ll be in the same place in one year with exercise that you would be with surgery.
Your body’s capacity to heal is truly incredible.
You just have to give it a chance to do its thing and set it up for success, and you can do it without going under the knife.
If you have a disc injury and you’re ready to get out of pain without getting surgery, we can help.
Shoot us a message, and we’ll let you know whether or not you’re a fit to work with us.
