When doing business make sure you understand the role of everyone involved. Just because they sit at the table on your side or the opposite side making sure the deal is completed doesn’t mean they want you to win. My mentor was president of a local Bank, I remember him telling me Pam it is critical that you do your best to do business with people and or institutions that want you to win, that want you to succeed.
I didn’t understand that knowledge back then more than 20 years ago, but at 62 I get it.
I have lived enough now and had enough business experiences to understand the wealth in the information he shared. He said ownership can be a powerful thing and land ownership even more powerful. Choose your business partnerships wisely. When you own more than 60 acres of land in the heart of the city, in the part of the city that’s considered the black community, the 72204 and it less than 5 minutes from major Hospitals know not all will be rooting for your win. But you remember the conversations the lessons taught by your banker mentor, WIN ANY WAY. Entrepreneur is the hardest business I’ve ever been involved in, but it’s a hard I’m willing to fight for.
