Our annual Volunteer of the Year awards are coming up later this month and we would like to take a moment to share all of our incredible volunteers who were nominated! These people were nominated by their peers for doing an exceptional job of going above and beyond for the families that we serve and being an anchor for members in their local team. We are so grateful to each and every one of our volunteers and look forward to sharing this years winners later this month!

"It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our cherished volunteers, Dan Chavez.
For nine years, Dan faithfully served Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep as an Affiliated Photographer, Dispatcher, and Level 3 Digital Retouch Artist. During that time, he provided remembrance photography services to 118 families, leaving a lasting impact not only on those he served, but also on the countless volunteers, medical professionals, and staff members who had the privilege of knowing him.
Dan's commitment to NILMDTS was deeply personal. Before he ever learned about our organization, he experienced the heartbreaking loss of his granddaughter. In the midst of that grief, his instinct was to serve. He provided photographs for his family, recognizing the immeasurable value of preserving precious memories during unimaginable loss."

"To the father who is experiencing his first Father’s Day while grieving the loss of a child, I want to encourage you to let it out this year. Pour your heart out with the people you love. Do not hide from what you feel. Sorrow is not a sign of weakness. Vulnerability is one of the greatest signs of strength. Our children deserve our deepest love, even when that love is expressed through grief.
Find ways to honor your child that bring you peace in the midst of pain. Share your sorrow with those who care for you, so the weight of it can be shared. Allow yourself to begin healing. And remember, healing is not forgetting. It is a way of honoring those we have lost.
To all the loving fathers reading this, Happy Father’s Day."
💙 These are the words of Samson, SJ's dad, and a member of our NILMDTS board. He wrote this for every father facing Father's Day without their child to hold. Read his full story: https://loom.ly/8svx-N4
