Sobo Telecom is currently seeking a Fiber Optic Splicer and Fiber Optic Project Manager to join our team. This position includes cutting over and splicing fiber optic cables, locating problem areas, and performing other repairs as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Install, repair and test fiber in a variety of environments.
• Splice fiber optic cables, both loose tube and ribbon. Assemble splice case, including grounding, bonding, isolation, storage, and sealing.
• Able to connect and rearrange cable facilities per splice docs.
• Test fibers as required by contract or work order.
• Read and interpret blueprints and splice diagrams.
• Perform routine maintenance and be available for emergency repairs as called upon.
• Must always comply with proper safety standards/procedures during work operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Experience performing fiber optic cable splicing in a construction, installation, and/or maintenance environment
• Valid driver’s license/ Clean MVR is a must!
• Able to be cleared from background check
• Knowledge of common telecommunications outside and inside plant engineering, construction, installation, and operation
• Knowledge of fiber optic testing and troubleshooting using common industry test gear and tools
• Ability to read prints and other types of engineering documents
• Skilled in fiber optic splicing • Experience with OTDR Testing and Troubleshooting
• Knowledge of cable size, count, and colors of direction
• Able to work outdoors in all types of weather
