Let’s help ensure the children in our community don’t experience this summer slide. Let’s build a community of readers!
Mayor Carlos Greer will kick off the Reading in the Grove Summer Challenge, a community-wide reading program designed to inspire readers of all ages to discover new books, build literacy skills, and create a lifelong love of reading.
Throughout the summer, participants can track their reading, earn fun rewards, attend exciting events, and connect with fellow book lovers right here in Locust Grove! Please join us for a special story hour and a free book giveaway (while supplies last).

📚Reading in the Grove is ConversationStarters Bookstore's annual summer literacy program designed to inspire a love of reading, encourage lifelong learning, and bring our community together through books. This exciting two-month program is open to readers of all ages, from young children and teens to adults and seniors.

Throughout June and July, participants can enjoy storytimes, creative workshops, literacy activities, family events, arts and crafts, wellness experiences, author visits, community celebrations, and opportunities to earn rewards while developing healthy reading habits.

Whether you're reading your first picture book, diving into a new novel, or exploring a favorite genre, Reading in the Grove offers something for everyone.

Who Can Participate?
Reading in the Grove is open to:
Children
Teens
Adults
Seniors
Families
Homeschool groups
Community members of all reading levels

Participation is free, and everyone is encouraged to join the challenge.

How the Program Works 📝
Participants can:
Pick up a Reading in the Grove reading log on June 1st
Track their reading throughout June and July.
Attend special events and activities.
Earn rewards and incentives.
Celebrate reading milestones with fellow community members.
Participate in end-of-summer recognition events.
Reading in the Grove is dedicated to building stronger readers, stronger families, and a stronger community by making literacy accessible, engaging, and fun for everyone.
