Vegetable and fruit tree growing, gardening, and giant pumpkin growing. Author. JeffreysMcLain.com Giant pumpking grower, blogger, and author.
It has been 19 days since pollination. The pumpkin is still getting itself together and growing 10 to 15 pounds a day. It should take off soon. The leaves on my plant are really large. This is good to see, as long as it’s not too windy; all these leaves are great solar cells.
All tomatoes are producing now and life is good! Beefsteak, Roma and Ace are my plants of choice this year. As i say in the video, i don’t do much for tomatoes. I always replenish the raised beds with compost in the fall. Raised beds are great for tomatoes. I put a few tomatoes in pots for early harvesting but they cook in the heat.
The Old School House patch giant pumpkin is moving along. The estimated weight on day 21 is 72 pounds which is not my best; however, this might become a fun giant in the 800-1,000 pound range that I can fit in my trailer! The chicken wire seems to be keeping the rabbits out so far, and the new leaves look very healthy. I haven’t started terminating secondaries yet. Soon!
