👀February is Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) Awareness month. For the next week, we will be sharing The American Academy of Ophthalmology's 7 steps for better eye health and to reduce your risk of AMD. AMD is one of the leading causes of vision loss in people over the age of 50. 👁️
Step #1 - Get regular comprehensive eye exams
AMD often has no early warning signs, so getting regular comprehensive eye exams
is critical to diagnosing and treating the disease early. If you have no signs or risk
factors for eye disease, the Academy recommends a baseline screening at age 40,
then every one to two years after age 65.

What is laser-assisted cataract surgery—and is it right for you?

At Kendall Shepard Eye Center, we often recommend laser-assisted surgery for cataract patients who want the most precise and modern option available.

We use a femtosecond laser, which gently creates the incisions, opens the cataract, and starts to break it up before the surgeon steps in. That added precision helps make the procedure even safer and more comfortable.

If you're exploring cataract surgery, we’re happy to walk you through your options and help you choose what’s best for your eyes.

Did you know you have choices when it comes to cataract surgery?

Today’s cataract procedures offer more than just clear vision—they offer the best vision possible, depending on your needs.

While there’s a standard lens that can restore your sight to how it was before, many patients are great candidates for upgraded lenses that correct astigmatism, nearsightedness, farsightedness—or even both. These premium lenses can reduce or even eliminate the need for glasses after surgery.

When you come in for cataract surgery, we’ll talk through all your options and help you choose the one that fits your lifestyle best.
