Photos from Lompoc Valley Historical Society's post 07/10/2026

3333 Refugio Road 1980. I took these photos shortly after Ronald Reagan was elected president in 1980. The name on the left column of the gate has the name of an adjacent ranch to Reagan's. The locking system has many locks for utilities, etc. and those allowed access. I assume unlocking one lock opens the gate? Once he became president, a small Guard shack was installed just beyond the right column (3333). If you google 3333 Refugio Road, you will see it has changed little, except for another keypad/card device on the left side. I recall a huge cable running into this area that came up from Refugio Road from the ocean side. It was removed after permanent and hidden lines were run. - Richard Schuyler
