These stickers have been a longstanding presence in our town. We have recently learned that the California Fish and Game Commission will discuss the possibility of allowing recreational finfish fishing at Surf Beach. Our Council first wrote to request this opportunity in January 2020, and we now have the chance to make our case. A public hearing for Item 8B is scheduled for May 5th at 8:00 AM at the Hilton Garden Inn, 6878 Hollister Avenue in Goleta.

The upcoming Lompoc City Council meeting (12/16/2025) will bring some transparency concerning the $46,000,000 ++++ project. Adopted amidst the pandemic, this multimodal street plan entails significant modifications. Ocean Avenue's eastbound traffic at H street will be condensed into one lane, eliminating on-street parking, and tree removal and sidewalk elimination are planned. Shared bicycle and pedestrian lanes will replace sidewalks without curbs, and lanes will be narrowed, prioritizing bicycle traffic over vehicular traffic on Hwy 246 and Hwy 1, ( north H street and east and west Ocean Avenue).
