Dear Counselors, Procter Summer Camp is possible because you are WE.

Thank you for the late nights and early mornings with energetic campers, for blobbing until you are sore, smelling like campfire and big spray, for looking out for each other and keeping electrolyte packs handy, for singing Pharaoh Pharaoh like it’s your favorite each time, smiling until it hurts, and answering exactly 1,458,067 questions a day with enthusiasm and kindness.

We see your hard work, and your heart and we give thanks for you every moment of every day that you are willing to share them with us.

Keep swimming friends, you’re doing AMAZING.

During Family Camp 1, we were honored to have Procter Summer Camp Staff Alumni, including (from left to right in the last photo ) Lisa Bibles,Hannah Teeteor (current Assistant Director), class of 2013, Greear Frischmuth, class of 2004, Slocomb Reed, class of 2008, and Christopher Richardson, class of 2010, with us as campers and leaders!

During Closing Eucharist, Greear shared a bit of what makes Procter an enduring part of her life.

Beginning when she was a brand new - and very reluctant camper, Greear testified that Procter “allowed me to be authentically myself, to be as silly as I wanted to be without worrying about what people would think...” Now, several decades later, Procter remains holy ground for Greear. “This is a thin space for me. I’ve been able to celebrate my relationship with God here, I’ve been able to question my relationship with God here... I continue to ground myself here when I am feeling shaky, and I am brought back to moments when I feel safe, and I feel God’s presence in everything.”

Wow! What a gift it is to hear stories like this and be reminded of how far the ministry of Procter reaches!

Procter’s roots run deep and as we approach our 75th year, we are hoping to share even more stories of how this place has made a difference in the lives of campers, guests and staff!

If you would like to connect with more alumni and/ or share your Procter story, please leave a comment and we will send you a link! 07/03/2026
