While Emily grew up farming and was knee-deep in anything involving agriculture, and Rich was the extra hand on a neighboring farm growing up, they have only been farming on their own since 2021.

What started with the spontaneous purchase of a new-to-them baling tractor quickly led to new hay equipment, rented farmland, and a growing passion for farming. About a year into farming rented ground, they realized they wanted to farm land of their own. After what seemed like forever, they purchased their farm in December 2022.

One cold day the following February, they found themselves at the local livestock sale, where Rich impulsively bought their farm donkey and cow mascot, saying, “I was tired of looking at empty pastures.” Since then, they have slowly but surely grown their production herd and even added brood cows this spring.

Today, they raise beef cattle, grow hay, flowers, and pumpkins, and provide floral design services for events and weddings. Their beef is raised on pasture and fed a healthy ration of grain daily, giving them the benefits of both grass- and grain-fed beef. They offer both freezer beef and beef by the cut, with products sold through a local orchard farm market.

They are excited to continue growing their business and farming operation for years to come.
