“Are the children well?”

Among the Maasai, that’s the greeting. Not how are you, but how are the children? Because a people are only as well as how they treat their most vulnerable.

Last month, at Cabrillo, the answer was a resounding yes. 🤎

Special needs students dressed up, danced, laughed, and belonged. And that doesn’t happen alone, it takes a village.

To The SIX, Jocelyn, Dameon., and every hand that poured in: thank you for showing all the way up. You made sure these young people felt seen, celebrated, and loved.

That’s Ubuntu. I am because we are. We rise by lifting each other.

The children are well. Know that you are loved.

Calling All Community Organizations serving youth!!!!

Hi everyone, I hope you’re doing well.

We’re excited to invite your organization to be part of Peace in the Park, happening May 16 and hosted by Project X LB.

We’re bringing together 10–15 organizations to table at this community event and connect youth and families with meaningful summer resources and opportunities.

We’re especially looking for organizations that offer:

Summer programs or camps

Youth employment or internship opportunities

Academic enrichment or tutoring

Mental health and wellness resources

Recreation, arts, or sports programming

This is more than just an event—it’s a chance to show up for our community, build connections, and make sure families know what’s available to them this summer.

Interested in tabling? Reach out and let’s build something impactful together.

It’s official!!!

We’re proud to share that PXLB is partnering with the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) to bring V.i.B.e. (Voice, Identity, Belonging, Expression) Camp to life this summer.

What started as a vision… is now a real space.

For 3 weeks, teens will step into a museum environment to explore:
Art. Identity. Voice.

This is more than a camp.
It’s a space for self-expression, growth, and discovering who you are…through creativity and community.

From the community… to the museum.

And this is just the beginning.

Today at our newest school Hamilton middle school-we explored what a safe space really is what it isn’t.

Not just physically… but mentally and emotionally.

Through art, these young men created spaces that represented:
• Peace
• Escape
• Control
• And sometimes… a place that doesn’t exist yet, but needs to

What stood out most wasn’t just the creativity—it was the engagement.

These young men were locked in, focused, and willing to peel back layers in a way that doesn’t always happen through conversation alone.

This is why we use art.

It gives students a way to express what they may not have the words for yet.

Support. Heal. Inspire. Flourish. Transform.
