Why Danceprov Series?

We've all seen improvisers hug the sides of their bodies, flip their hands nervously, or just shuffle from foot to foot onstage as they speak. If you want to broaden your movement vocabulary in improvisation, sign up for our upcoming Danceprov Series with Mallory White at The Playful Stage!

In the class, we dive into exercises and games using both musical and nonmusical prompts to override the analytical, language-focused part of the brain and tap directly into our physicality.

Exploring movement serves to quicken emotions, enhance connection and enliven improv games.

Mallory creates a safe, joyful Danceprov class, welcoming improvisers of all ages and abilities. While students are encouraged to test the boundaries of their movement as performers, everyone is advised to adjust to their own body's parameters and comfort level.

The 4 week summer DanceProv Series meets Wednesdays (7/22, 7/29, 8/5 and 8/12) from 7:00 pm to 9:15 pm and culminates in a performance on Friday evening 8/14. Participants will have input on which dance-inspired games they feel most comfortable sharing with an audience.
