ABCs Buddha

Lately, a few gemstones have resonated with me greatly from my gemstone tarot deck (The Tarot of Gemstones & Crystals by Helmut G. Hofmann) and I was moved to buy bracelets of these stones to remind me of their meanings and to get the gemstone’s energy when I wear the bracelets. The first is Chalcedony which is a blue, translucent stone and all about communication like the 5th or throat chakra. The next is Rose Quartz which is all about the heart including love of oneself and others and also healing of the heart. And finally, I have Larimar which is opaque and the color of the blue ocean and the sky reminding us of the vastness of these parts of our world and to keep our minds this vast and not box ourselves into tiny corners. I also have another bracelet ordered which will be coming later this month, it’s called Ametrine and its a violet and gold gemstone and reminds us of our closeness to God and the great spirit.

When I was growing up in Nigeria, I often heard said 'the way to a man's heart is through his stomach!' you don't hear that much in the US, but it is probably a universal truth. So my Western sisters keep this gem of wisdom in your tool pouch and use it when the opportunity presents itself. I, for example, have seen the opportunity at work a few times when I was able to buy a sandwich or burrito for one of my male coworkers, (which is the only type of coworker I have), or given them a snack. Only afterward I would reflect and remember the saying and then I would also notice a new rapport developed between me and that male coworker.

I have always had an interest in the mogul, Warren Buffet, because I've read that he is a Democrat, making him one of the few wealthy Democrats in my perspective. Anyways, I'm not trying to get into politics what I want to share here is an excellent YouTube video by Evan Carmichael that I enjoyed that shared Warren Buffets advice about how he keeps his schedule very empty and says 'no' to most things. How the Bill Gates of Microsoft and Steve Jobs of Apple were shocked to find this out when they had kept their schedules so packed. Warren Buffet is also a prolific reader reading about 500 pages a day and also sets plenty of time out in his day to do nothing but think which I believe is meditation. I read and really enjoyed Kevin Hart’s first book biography called ‘I Can’t Make This Up, Life Lessons’. One thing is that the book did not allow me use was the functionality to read aloud like I was able to do on many other books on Google Play and I wondered if Kevin Hart requested that this functionality be removed so his audience would have to visually read the book and couldn’t listen to it on tape. I did enjoy being forced to visually read the book. It forced me to take time out of my day to sit down and I couldn’t have just listen to it in traffic and it made a huge difference in the experience reading the book.

Ever notice how in America a lot of things are just about $20 or just about $40 so it makes it look not so expensive. But a whole bunch of $20 adds up to $100 and then a whole bunch of $100 adds up to $500 and then that's practically your whole paycheck!
