Long Beach, we're thrilled to introduce you to your newest Youth Poet Laureate, Ajala Sen!

Ajala has been selected as the 2026 - 2027 Youth Poet Laureate, as her work reflects the spirit and purpose of the LBYPL designation: using poetry to inspire connection, political awareness, and change.

We'd also like to extend a special congratulations to our newly selected Youth Poet Ambassadors: Ruby Giles, Cecelia Rogers, Annali Bojorquez, and Kieran Lundy. Together, this cohort of change-makers will receive scholarships and participate in workshops, mentorship opportunities, and community engagement activities centered on poetry and the arts.

In observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 25, 2026, several City of Long Beach facilities will be closed and some services may be impacted.
